Quit Smoking Handbook
Where to begin
First just make sure you know why you want to quit. Read as many anti-smoking articles as possible and talk to as many people who quitted as you can. You will be rewarded with a desire and a motivation that can move mountains and pass any obstacles. Do not think too much about this decision, with each second that passes your lungs and your entire body suffers. You will learn from other people that there is no masked secret which only those who stopped smoking know, and that the only thing that matters is personal will.
The reasons behind your decision to quit
Look over all the reasons you might have:
-You will be adding a few more years to your life.
- You might not have to suffer from sever diseases after all.
- You will stop hurting those in your family who have to breathe in your smoke, you will stop polluting your baby while he is in the joovy caboose tandem stroller and you smoke besides him
- You will have more energy and you will love life more.
- You can save money for a pleasurable activity, as a vacation or a nice home asset.
Write down everything that happens when you quit
No one can make you do anything, except yourself. A secret journal will help you evaluate all your reasons when it becomes hard to stay away from cigarettes. Here you could be answering yourself some smoking related questions:
How did smoking affected and influenced your life so far?
What enhancements and changes can you make?
How to deal with smokers in your home and at the office?
What do you like about smoking?
What do you hate about smoking?
Who can support you if you quit?
What would you be gaining if you quit?
Think of a date you want to quit
Decide on an early date. If you delay the date and do not want to specify a clear day when you are going to quit you risk loosing your enthusiasm. Pick a period in which you know you won’t have many stressful factors to deal with. Make a program for the first few days. Because the first days are very hard, you should think of a period when you can keep your mind busy with something else.
Some people might want to have lots of things to do during the first days. Others prefer sleeping. What to do during these few days is a thing we decide alone. Even sleeping for a long time can help. The addiction symptoms, felt during these few days, are intense, but they last for a short period of time. Don’t let the process of returning to a normal life scare you. You will finally be able to quit smoking and experience total freedom, as you should’ve since…a long time.
