When you decide to ways to stop smoking, you must do it knowing what will come. {Since this won’t be a pretty journey, and you might regret the decision after only a couple of days, you will need all the possible support you can get. Because quitting is never pretty, regardless of the drug we are talking, you will need people that can support you. Since smoking is hard to forget, make sure there are persons that can offer you the support you need.} At the same time you must think about various things you can do, alone or with friends. Here is a small list of things to do when you quit smoking and after you’ve quitted:

- Ask for help after you quit from friends and family. Support and understanding from your loved ones can prove to be the best medicine against any addiction. It’s crucial that people who surround you know why you are so nervous and tired.

- Make a long list with all the reasons that lead you to this decision. Then, whenever you are tempted to light a cigarette, look for the list and read it carefully. You can even add additional reasons once in a while.

- Throw away everything that is related to smoking. When your family members smoke, they will have to be asked not to do it in front of your for a while.

- Many people are afraid they will get fat because of the increased need to eat after they quit. In fact, eating is just a way of replacing the smoking habit. Whenever you feel like eating something, eat a fruit or a vegetable. Also, try to eat healthy during the first few months, even if you are not overweight, because you risk gaining some pounds in this period.

- You might experience an increased need of caffeine at first. You should try to give up coffee along with smoking, because it makes you stay awake for too long.

- Sleep well and go to sleep early, to avoid laying awake and thinking of cigarettes.

- You should reward you efforts with nice things bought from money not wasted on cigarettes. This is a big effort that must be rewarded.

- If you smoke a cigarette at some point because you can’t deal with the stress anymore, it doesn’t mean that you can’t continue to causes of smoking. A single cigarette in a few weeks will not make you a smoker again.

- Do some exercises or sign up for sports classes so you can re-tonify your body.
